New structure of the swissGEOCOVER2D datasets on map.geo.admin.ch
The structure of the swissGEOCOVER2D datasets on map.geo.admin.ch has been improved to enhance the digital experience (e.g. when used in combination with other data)
You can now individually select the six layers that make up the swissGEOCOVER2D product, which covers the whole of Switzerland:
swissGEOCOVER2D Bedrock: all the lithostratigraphic units of the bedrock;
Unconsolidated deposits swissGEOCOVER2D: all unconsolidated (Quaternary) deposits overlying the bedrock;
Geological lines swissGEOCOVER2D: all linear geological features, excluding tectonic structures;
Tectonic lines swissGEOCOVER2D: all tectonic structures;
Geological points swissGEOCOVER2D: all point-like geological features;
Geological surfaces swissGEOCOVER2D: various geomorphological, anthropogenic and tectonic features.
The former layer “GeoCover – Vector Datasets” is still visible on map.geo.admin.ch but will be deactivated on 30 November 2026.
