Important information about SSL certificates and the HTTP protocol in map.geo.admin.ch

SSL certificates

If you integrate external content into the map viewer, please note the following:

  • Checking certificates: Please ensure that the servers from which you wish to integrate symbols, KML or GPX files have valid SSL certificates. Invalid or expired certificates can no longer be supported. Please check the certificates of the servers you use and ask the relevant administrator to update the certificate if necessary.
  • Functionality test: After the changeover, you should check your use case. In particular, check whether all KML icons are loading correctly and that GPX or KML files are still accessible.

HTTP support is being phased out

Also for security reasons, support for the HTTP protocol is being phased out. If you have been using links or data sources that are provided via HTTP (without encryption), you should switch them to HTTPS. This is an essential step to ensure that you can continue to use your external data in our viewer after our conversion.
