Geoinformation and protection of terrestrial ecosystems
The conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity are vital to social and economic development as well as to humanity’s survival. UN Sustainable Development Goal #15 seeks to protect, restore and promote terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.

On its map viewer map.geo.admin.ch the federal administration, in particular the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) and the Federal Office for Agriculture (FOAG), provides information on indicators and measures for the preservation of biodiversity, the sustainable use of landscapes and the combating of soil degradation.
